Terms
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Deck Designer (deckdesigner.com.au) is run by Total Scope Carpentry in Canberra. Part 1 applies to everyone who uses the deck designer. Part 2 applies to builders who pay for it.
Part 1. Using the deck designer
Designs are drafts. The designer helps you picture a deck and talk about it with a builder. It is not a building plan, an engineering design or a quote. Sizes, spans, footings, heights, balustrade rules and council approvals must be checked by a qualified builder, carpenter or engineer before you buy anything or build.
Materials lists are a guide. Quantities are rough estimates, and prices are typical retail prices that change over time. Your real list depends on your site and your builder. Product links go to the retailer's own website, and we are not connected with the retailer.
Free to use. The designer is free for homeowners. We may change or improve it at any time.
Use it fairly. Please do not misuse the forms or text messages, copy the designer onto another website, or try to get around its limits.
Our responsibility. Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for decisions made using a draft design, a materials list or an estimate.
Part 2. For builders
The plans.
- Hosted page, $150 a year: your own designer page on deckdesigner.com.au, with your name, colours and phone number.
- On your website, $300 a year: the designer inside your own website, switched on for your web address only, and the hosted page as well.
Both plans include unlimited leads, with no credits or fee per lead. Prices are in Australian dollars, with no GST charged, paid yearly in advance.
Your leads. A lead is a homeowner who confirmed their mobile with a PIN on your designer. Leads from your designer are yours alone. We never share them with or sell them to another builder. Use them only to reply to the homeowner about their deck, and do not add them to marketing lists without their permission.
Your work. Homeowners are told their design is a draft to be confirmed by you. You are responsible for measuring up, your own quote, and your licence, insurance and approvals.
On your website. The designer only shows on the web addresses we switch on for you. Tell us if your address changes. The embed code includes a call box that shows your phone number if the designer ever fails to load.
Keeping it running. We check the designer every five minutes and work to fix problems quickly, but we cannot promise it will never be down.
Listing on deckdesigner.com.au. Both plans include a listing for your area on deckdesigner.com.au. Where several builders cover an area, they are shown in a fair rotation.
Renewal and cancelling. There is no lock-in contract. We remind you before your year ends, and you choose whether to renew. If you cancel, your designer keeps running until the end of the year you have paid for. We will tell you at least 30 days before any price change, and it only applies from your next renewal.
Refunds. If you cancel within 14 days of first paying, we refund you in full. After that, fees already paid are not refunded, except as set out below or where the law requires.
Ending a plan. We may pause or end a plan if it is misused, for example leads used for spam or the designer copied onto someone else's website. If we end a plan for any other reason, we refund the unused part of your year.
